    EENOVANCE has successfully delivered and grid-connected a landmark commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage project at TED Ceramica's manufacturing base in Bulgaria.

    The installation features 14 E-MATE 125-261-L liquid-cooled energy storage cabinets connected in parallel on the 400V AC side. Delivering a total output of 1.75 MW / 3.65 MWh, the system seamlessly integrates with the facility’s existing rooftop solar arrays. It provides local PV self-consumption, peak shaving, and facility-wide energy management, serving as a replicable model for C&I solar-plus-storage applications across Southeastern Europe.

     

    Seamless AC Coupling with Existing Rooftop Solar

    TED Ceramica is a leading Bulgarian manufacturer of ceramic tiles, sanitaryware, and building materials. To increase solar self-consumption and curb peak electricity costs during production spikes, the facility retrofitted its existing rooftop solar infrastructure using AC coupling.

    By deploying 14 standardized E-MATE 125-261-L outdoor cabinets—each rated at 125 kW / 261.25 kWh—directly onto the facility's 400V busbar, the site upgraded its energy capacity without altering existing PV inverters or solar arrays.

     

    Industrial-Grade Safety and Outdoor Reliability

    Each E-MATE cabinet integrates a 125 kW PCS and a 261.25 kWh LFP battery pack using advanced liquid-cooling thermal management. Key features include:

    • High Efficiency & Speed: 98.5% peak PCS efficiency with sub-100ms charge-to-discharge switching.
    • Rugged Outdoor Design: IP55-rated enclosure and IP67-rated battery packs, installed directly outdoors near production units to eliminate the need for dedicated housing. Built to withstand continuous dust exposure and extreme seasonal temperature variations.
    • Comprehensive Safety: Multi-layered protection including aerosol fire suppression, water injection interfaces, combustible gas detection, and forced ventilation.
    • Global Compliance: Certified under IEC 62619, EN 62477, UN38.3, IEC 62933-5-2 / TÜV Rheinland AK, and UL 9540A thermal runaway safety standards.

     

    Intelligent Energy Management for Heavy Load Operations

    Ceramic manufacturing involves heavy, continuous loads from ball milling, drying, firing, and polishing—processes where solar generation rarely aligns perfectly with operational demand.

    An intelligent Energy Management System (EMS) orchestrates daily operations:

    1. Solar Optimization: Rooftop PV directly powers factory operations; excess solar charges the storage system.
    2. Peak Shaving: During peak demand or low solar generation, the system discharges to offset high grid tariffs and demand charges.
    3. High Availability: A "single-cabinet independent, parallel-connected" architecture ensures that routine maintenance on any single unit will not interrupt the remaining site capacity.

     

    Localized Delivery and C&I Market Expansion

    The project was executed through a joint effort: EENOVANCE supplied the equipment and system engineering, Elcom Stroy managed installation and grid connection, TED Invest funded the project, and TED Ceramica serves as the end operator.

    With industrial electricity tariffs and renewable adoption rising rapidly in Bulgaria, C&I energy storage is shifting from an optional upgrade to an essential cost-reduction tool. This deployment establishes a proven blueprint for manufacturing hubs and industrial parks seeking to integrate reliable, outdoor-rated storage.
